City youth start tech careers through skills partnership

4th July 2016

Young people from the Western Cape have embarked on their dream tech careers, through a partnership between the Western Cape Government and Oracle. Through the Java Schools Programme, young residents from the Western Cape started training in Java, a programming language.

It is a joint initiative between the Western Cape Departments of Economic Development and Tourism, Education, IT software company, Oracle, Cape Innovation and Technology Initiative and training provider, On The Ball College. Alan Winde, Minister of Economic Opportunities, will this week visit Absa Aliens, Absa’s development centre, where a group of the programme’s young participants are completing internships as software developers.
