Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in South Africa late on Monday, the first leader from the BRICS grouping which also includes Brazil, Russia and India to land in for its annual summit.

South Africa, the newest BRICS member, will host the July 25 - 27 conference in the commercial hub of Johannesburg which will focus on "collaboration for inclusive growth and shared prosperity in the fourth industrial revolution”.

An inter-ministerial committee set up by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to prepare for the summit said in a statement late on Monday many international guests were already in the country for the summit, which will also be attended by Brazilian President Michel Temer, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

The BRICS heads of state will also interact with African leaders, including the presidents of Namibia, Gabon, Angola, Senegal, Uganda, Togo and Rwanda, to discuss how to pursue inclusive growth on the continent.
