JUSTICE MALALA, controversial political commentator and author, has agreed to step into the ring to face the Minister of Finance, Mr Pravin Gordhan, in the Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s second Rumble in the Urban Jungle.

He replaces, combatant RW Johnson, renowned political commentator and historian, was has been knocked out by the savage ‘flu epidemic that has struck Cape Town.
The last-minute replacement means that the Rumble will still take place as scheduled at the Westin Hotel in Cape Town on Wednesday night.

“We have been extraordinary lucky to find such a worthy opponent for the Minister at such short notice,” said Ms Janine Myburgh, President of the Chamber.
Mr Malala and R W Johnson have a lot in common. Both have recently written books predicting critical times ahead for the country. The Johnson book is titled “How long will South Africa survive?” while Mr Malala’s book says “We have now begun our descent”.

“We think we are in for an even more exciting debate,” Ms Myburgh said. “RW Johnson represents a more academic approach and his views are measured while Justice Malala is much closer to the political scrap now taking place.

“What makes it all the more interesting is that the clash takes place in the wake of the local government elections which have produced a major shift in the political landscape. We are expecting some dynamite punches,” Ms Myburgh said.

The debate will take place over two rounds followed by a question and answer session.
