| Bush calls Cameroon leader ahead of UN debate |
US President George Bush telephoned counterpart Paul Biya of
Cameroon Wednesday, ahead of a key debate on Iraq at the UN
Security Council, White House spokesman Sean McCormack said.
The two leaders discussed "friendship and the importance of the
bilateral relationship" between their countries, McCormack
said.
He said the 10-minute call also included a discussion of "the
importance of both countries working to advance African regional
and international security."
The call came two days before a key debate on Iraq at the UN
Security Council, where Cameroon holds one of 10 rotating
seats.
Cameroon has called for continued UN inspections in Iraq, rather
than an immediate move to use military force to disarm Iraq of any
banned weapons.

pressure to back its call for military action - Sapa-AFP |
