Bowmans On A Winning Streak

Leading Pan-African law firm, Bowmans has enjoyed a hat trick of award wins over the past few days, having been recognised for excellence at three separate awards ceremonies.

Firstly, the SA Graduate Employers Association (SAGEA) voted Bowmans as the top graduate employer in the law sector of the SAGEA Employer Awards 2018, for the second year running. Launched in 2010, the awards are based on the results of a survey that is conducted annually using an online questionnaire that was completed by 2 281 candidates this year. Research has shown that survey participants are most likely to vote for organisations based on the programmes, roles, training and development they offer, the overall reputation of the organisation and the appeal of the organisation’s brand, product or services. Bohlale Paile, Bowmans’ graduate recruitment manager says, “We are so excited to have been awarded the graduate employer of choice award. We are constantly striving for excellence in the creation of a leading articles offering which aims to put the candidate attorney’s development and exposure at the centre of their career.”

The firm was also recognised by Africa Investor, an investment holding platform, as the Legal Advisor of the Year. The Africa Investor team congratulated Bowmans, saying they have produced exceptional achievements in the Legal Advisor category over the last year and will no doubt continue to serve as an inspiration for business and government leaders working to raise Africa’s infrastructure project development profile.

Lastly, Bowmans won the Single Deal Advisor of the Year Award at the Private Equity Africa Awards 2018 (PEA Awards) for the second consecutive year. Bowmans received the award for acting as lead counsel to Capitalworks in relation to its acquisition of Aon plc’s shareholding in insurance brokerage and employee benefit operations in 10 African jurisdictions. The accolades were presented at the 7th Annual PEA Awards Gala Dinner hosted at Langham Hotel in London.

Head of the firm’s Private Equity Practice, John Bellew, said, “We are proud of the work that we did on this complex transaction which illustrates our ability to support our clients across multiple African jurisdictions.” The 2018 PEA Awards received a record number of entries.

These awards are testament to the consistently good work Bowmans is doing across the continent and their ability to advise on complex legal matters in the best interests of their clients.
