Bowmans’ Africa-wide expertise highly rated in Chambers Global Report 2017

Pan-African law firm Bowmans’ Africa-wide expertise continues to be recognised by international legal ratings organisations including Chambers & Partners, which published its 2017 Global Report on 16 March 2017.
Sixty lawyers and 17 practice areas across Africa were ranked. The firm’s expertise in 12 of the practice areas researched was rated in Band 1. For the first time this year, our Shipping practice in South Africa was among those recognised in Band 1 and the Kenya office in Band 2 for Employment.

According to Chambers & Partners, “this impressive firm has an expansive footprint across Africa. Represents global organisations and financial institutions on restructurings and cross-border financial transactions including investments and loan facilities. Has noted sector activity in the infrastructure, mining and pharmaceutical industries. Has strong francophone experience with offices in South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.”

Chambers & Partners ranks lawyers and law firms based on several criteria. These include legal practice areas’ effectiveness and capability as a whole and individual lawyers‘ legal knowledge, experience and their ability, effectiveness and client-service.

The research methodology involves a team of more than 140 researchers holding one-on-one interviews with a variety of stakeholders and also assessing recent work done. The research process is independent and confidential.

Bowmans chairman and senior partner, Rob Legh, says, “We are delighted that our expertise continues to be recognised by such a credible research organisation. This confirms that the integrated legal solutions we deliver across Africa are being noticed on a global scale."

This news follows the firm’s recent recognition by DealMakers as the leading legal adviser in Africa based on both deal value and volume - an award it has received for the third year in a row.
