The Black Business Council (BBC) on Wednesday welcomed the call made by the African National Congress (ANC) through the National Executive Council (NEC) for its members to come forth with information that will assist it to address allegations of state or party capture by business.

"The BBC believes that the process taken by the NEC is an important one and should further reassure our citizens that corruption will not be tolerated at any level," BBC CEO Mohale Ralebitso said in a statement.

The BBC also lauded the commitment by the NEC to develop a code of conduct for ANC members doing business.

"All members of society have a duty and responsibility to safeguard our institutions especially the integrity of SA incorporated.

"As such the BBC appeals to the broader society to volunteer information to appropriate institutions with the authority to take necessary steps where the relationship between the state and business has been compromised," Ralebitso said.

The BBC reiterated its call for all sectors, especially the business community, to relentlessly work together in building confidence in South Africa and stimulating economic growth.
