APPLICATION FOR MEDIA ACCREDITATION FOR THE 2017 HUMAN RIGHTS DAY COMMEMORATION

1st March 2017

Members of the media are invited to apply for accreditation to cover the 2017 Human Rights Day scheduled to take place at Victoria Grounds, King Williams Town, Eastern Cape Province.

The commemoration of Human Rights Day is attributed to the Sharpeville Massacre that took place on 21 March 1960 when 69 people were killed by the apartheid police during a peaceful protest march. The Human Rights Month will be used to link with the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the passing of Steve Biko and the OR Tambo Centenary as a fitting tribute to mark his selfless and fervent effort towards bloodless transition and an advocate for human rights.

To apply for media accreditation, kindly complete online registration form on the link http://www.gcis.gov.za/content/media-registration Deadline for submission of applications is Friday 10 March 2017 at 14h00.

You are kindly requested to verify your details when completing your registration form. Details for collection of accreditation cards and about the event will be communicated in due course.
