| ANCYL: Statement by Thabo Mokoena, African National Congress Youth League Regional Secretary, expressing condolences on the passing of members of the ANCYL in an accident (23/06/2012) |
The ANCYL is saddened by the tragic passing of three members of the ANCYL in a tragic accident that took place this evening. The accident took place about a kilometer outside of Bethlehem in the Free State.
The bus was carrying a total of sixty one passengers including the driver who were returning to their Thabo Mofutsonyane region from the ANCYL rally in Bethlehem. Twenty seven passengers are in a critical condition and thirty one are injured. All passengers and the driver are currently in hospital.
This is a tragedy for the nation, as these are young cadres of the ANCYL who in their commitment and dedication always responded to the activities of the ANCYL in the province and country.
The ANCYL leadership of the region and the province will continue to be available to support and assist the families and friends of all involved in the accident. They will visit the families of the late comrades tomorrow led by the Chairperson of the Province, Cde Kgotso Morapela and Provincial Secretary, Cde Lebogang Mogoera.
The NEC of the ANCYL conveys it's deepest condolences to the families of the comrades who passed on in the accident and conveys wishes for a speedy recovery to those who are still in hospital. We call upon all structures of the ANCYL to offer support and assistance to the grieving families.
