ANCYL NC: ANCYL NC on Provincial General Council

ANCYL NC: ANCYL NC on Provincial General Council

The ANCYL in the Northern Cape wishes to congratulate the ANC for convening a successful Provincial General Council (PGC), which was held at Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre, Kimberley, from 23 – 26 April 2015. The leadership of the ANC has proven the prophets of doom wrong by pulling off a very important political school and mid-term PGC without any disruptions. Disparagers wanted us to believe that there would be anarchy leading to the PGC as members of the ANC rightfully held differing opinions on a number of issues, including but not restricted to the issue of who should fill the vacancy of provincial treasurer and other vacancies in the PEC.

It is not surprising that these counter-revolutionary tendencies fail dismally to find expression precisely because the ANC is a highly democratic organisation underpinned by principles of Organisational Democracy. The ANC has survived for 103 years primarily because it upheld and continues to upholding a strong culture of internal democracy. It is this very culture which holds the ANC together as it  has once again guided the leadership and membership of the ANC during the PGC. The ANCYL is of the view that those who were elected during PGC are credible, tried and tested cadres who are equal to the task of leading the ANC at a provincial level. We wish to congratulate Comrade Sylvia Lucas on being elected as the Provincial Treasurer of the ANC, as ANCYL we have confidence in all comrades who contested that whenever they will be called upon to serve the movement they will do so with diligence.

The ANCYL wishes to extend a special congratulatory message to two former leaders of the ANCYL, namely Comrade Zet Kwinana and Comrade Shadrack Tlhaole who have been elected into the PEC of the ANC respectively . Their election into the PEC affirms a long held view that the ANCYL remains the political school of the ANC where future leaders are identified, developed and molded into cadres who can assume positions of responsibility in the ANC. The ANCYL wants to commend the delegates to the PGC for taking concrete resolutions on advancing the work of the ANC in the province, as the ANCYL we want to call upon the leadership of the ANC to start immediately with work of implementing these resolutions.
