ANCWL: Statement by the African National Congress Women's League, horrified and deeply disturbed by the reports of the senseless death of toddler Taegrin Morris (21/07/2014)

The African National Congress Women's League is horrified and deeply
disturbed by the reports of the senseless death of little Taegrin Morris
and the hijacking and kidnapping of Mongezi Phike. These atrocious and
brutal acts have no place in our society; they are an affront and
offensive against the tireless efforts by many amongst us to build a country where
children are valued and protected.

The ANC Women's League calls for the South African Police Services to
leave no stone unturned in the effort to bring those responsible to book and for
our communities to cooperate with the police to identify  and isolate
these perpetrators amongst our midst. Whilst we are extremely thankful of
Mongezi Phike's safe return, the parties responsible for these terrors being
brought against our communities must still be found to face the full might
of the law.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Morris family during this difficult
time. It is the responsibility of all of us in society to come together to
protect our children.
