The African National Congress welcomes the meeting convened by President Jacob Zuma between the Executive and the Judiciary to discuss working relations between the two arms of state today, 27 August 2015. The meeting follows a request by the Chief Justice, Mogoeng Mogeoeng, in July this year.

The ANC reaffirms it's commitment to the independence of the judiciary and the doctrine of the separation of powers and respect of the rule of law.

It is our expectation that the two arms of state, separate, equal and independent will continue working together for the good of the country in the discharge of their different responsibilities. Together with the nation at large, the ANC looks forward to an outcome which continues to move South Africa forward.
