ANC Women's League in KZN to hold provincial council

More than 400 delegates are expected to attend the African National Congress (ANC) Women’s League’s Provincial General Council (PGC) in KwaZulu-Natal at the weekend, the party said on Thursday.

ANCWL acting provincial secretary Weziwe Thusi said in a statement that the council, which would be held in Durban on Saturday, would see the appointment of a new provincial secretary and additional members.

Thusi said: "The new provincial secretary will replace Nonhlanhla Khoza who became a member of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature after the 2014 general elections."

She said delegates would also elect a replacement for Busi Tembe who resigned after she was elected the ANCWL chairperson in the Far North Region and Zanele Ludidi who was now a member of the ANCWL National Executive.

She said the PGC was taking place during a critical time when the party was preparing for the 2016 local government elections.

"Although our support continues to grow in leaps and bounds, we are not going to be complacent because our movement is under immense onslaught from those who want to reverse the gains we have made in transforming people’s lives," said Thusi.
