Today, the African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal unveiled a countdown clock at its headquarters in Durban as ANC volunteers across all corners of the province gears up for a resounding victory on the 8th May.

ANC Provincial Secretary Mdumiseni Ntuli pointed out that ANC leaders in this province planned to continue to visit communities at home, churches, mosques, synagogues and many other places to ask them to vote for the party of Nelson Mandela back to power.

There is no shadow of a doubt that the people of KwaZulu-Natal will maintain the status of the movement as a ruling party in KZN and South Africa. The people of this province will be inspired by the pioneers of the liberation struggle as Dr John Langalibalele Dube, Dr Pixley ka Isaka Seme, Billy Nair, Ruth First and many others who planted the seeds of resistance and took the first few steps towards our freedom, knowing fully well that they would not live to see its dawn.

The fact that the ANC survives today is a tribute to those decent and disciplined leaders who founded this movement and the men and women of impeccable integrity who led it during the past decades, making it the oldest surviving liberation movement on our continent.

It is important to remember that the ANC was created as a home for all; to unite all the people of South Africa and mobilise them all to struggle for the liberation of all those who were oppressed by apartheid - Blacks in general and Africans in particular – as well as to tirelessly work to ensure a better life for all the people of South Africa.
