ANC: ANC mourns the passing of Ma Florrie Daniels

The African National Congress mourns the passing on Comrade Ma Florrie Daniels who died on the 31 August 2015 at the age of 90. Ma Daniels was an ANC activist, community leader and stalwart of our movement.

Florrie Daniels was born in Randfontein on the West Rand, on the 24th of June 1925. Her family moved to Price Street in Newclare, when she got married she moved to no. 1680 Moguerane Street, in the then Western Coloured Township as Westbury was called. She led the campaign for better housing, health and living conditions in Western Township and relocated to 2011 Roberts Circle, Westbury where she resided until her passing.

It was while living in Moguerane Street that Ma Daniels first got involved with community work. Driven by her deep commitment to the welfare of those less fortunate, as well as her concern for the consequences of injustice, she joined and initiated a range of projects and organisations in the area. Some of them were in response to immediate basic needs and crisis situations, others were attempts at finding long-term solutions to challenges faced by communities.

The African National Congress sends its deepest condolences to the family of Ma Florrie Daniels. May they find strength and comfort during this difficult time. Services to honour Ma Daniels will be held as follows:
