AMCU: Cosatu Section 77 Protest

AMCU: Cosatu Section 77 Protest

AMCU notes the section 77 protest action by the COSATU and informs its members not to participate in the exercise as we are not protected because we did not apply for a joinder.

The scope of this protest action deals with self-inflicted challenges emanating from poor leadership undergirded by corruption. The issue of protesting against state capture is playing to the gallery as there are processes underway to deal with it.

We are surprised how Nedlac sanctioned this protest action since the Public Protector has commissioned due process. We have previously been denied certificates by Nedlac for protest action on the basis that there was due process to resolve the matters.

The corrupt protest is advancing a particular political agenda within the factional debates leading to the December conference.

As indicated by the President of COSATU on ANN7, this is a season of madness. As AMCU we will not join the madness and seek to sponsor factional agendas masquerading as genuine worker protests!

Yours in Social Justice, Mr Joseph Mathunjwa AMCU President
