ADVISORY ON THE MINISTER OF TRANSPORT ATTENDANCE OF THE FIRST MINISTERIAL WORKING GROUP ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE SINGLE AFRICAN AIR TRANSPORT MARKET

The Minister of Transport, Ms Dipuo Peters, led a delegation from the Department of Transport to Addis Ababa - Ethiopia, to attend the first meeting of the Ministerial Working Group on the establishment of a Single African Air Transport Market. The meeting starts today 16-17 April 2015.
The Addis-Ababa meeting follows the meeting of the Ministerial Working Group on the establishment of a Single African Air Transport Market hosted by the South African Department of Transport under the auspices of the African Union at the Velmore Hotel Estate in Pretoria on the 21st January 2015.

The following member countries are expected to attend todays meeting: Angola, Congo, Egypt, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Rwanda, and Tunisia.

The member countries will be supported by Chief Executive Officers and senior officials of NPCA, AFRAA, AFCAC, EAC, ICAO and IATA.

The Pretoria meeting, which was chaired by Minister Dipuo Peters, extensively dealt with the proposed road map for the full implementation of the Yamoussoukro Decision on Liberalisation of Air transport Markets in Africa and the initiative to establish a Single African Air Transport Market (done by AUC); The benefits of liberalisation of air transport markets and unification of the air services market in Africa (done by AFRAA); and Institutional and Regulatory framework for the management of liberalised air transport markets in Africa and for the Single African Air Transport Market (done by AFCAC)
