1000 youth volunteers expected for Operation Winter Warm

Over the weekend of June 10 and 11, the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation is set to convene some 1000 youth volunteers when they host a mass relief campaign known as Operation Winter Warm in Lenasia, Johannesburg.

The youth will be addressed by various speakers before embarking on a door to door campaign to collect blankets, clothes, books and non-perishable food items for the less fortunate.

The event is set to be one of the biggest door to door youth relief campaigns in the country.

Guest speakers will include the Foundation's chairperson and former tourism minister, Derek Hanekom, and Executive Director of Section 27 Mark Heywood. Actors Ashish Gangapersad and Lelsey Musina, as well as South African Olympic medalist Khotso Mokoena will also be present.

When: 10-11 June 2017 (Saturday and Sunday)
Time: 9am (Saturday will be the main programme)
Where: Nirvana Secondary School Hall, 6 Willow Street, Lenasia
