PROCLAMATION UNDER SECTION 20 OF THE PROMOTION OF NATIONAL UNITY AND RECONCILIATION ACT, 1995 (ACT NO. 34 OF 1995)

Notice is hereby given that amnesty in terms of Section 20(1) of the Promotion of National Unity and Reconciliation Act, 1995 (Act No. 34 of 1995), was granted-

  1. on 1 November 2000 to MOLIFE MICHAEL SELEPE (date of birth 21 July 1965), in respect of -
  1. the attempted murder of unknown IFP members;
  2. malicious damage to property; 
  3. the unlawful possession of a 9mm pistol and ammunition; and any delicts or offence flowing from an attack on an IFP "base", committed at or near Nkosi Street, Thokoza,during or about July 1993;
  1. on 1 November 2000 to MANDLA MTSHALI (identity number 7003045369086), in respect of the possession of an unlicensed firearm, namely an AK 47 rifle and an unknown number of rounds of ammunition, committed at or near Thokoza, Gauteng, during or about 1993;

    1. DIME MATTHEWS KEKANA (identity number 5707275922081), in respect of treason for which he was convicted and sentenced to fourteen years' imprisonment by the then Supreme Court of South Africa, Witwatersrand Local Division, on 31 January 1986;

      (aa) transporting personnel (MK cadres) from Lesotho to Umtata;
      (bb) transporting weaponry from Lesotho and Sterkspruit to Umtata, committed during or about 1984 to 1986; and
      (cc) the destruction of a fuel depot by MK cadres, committed at or near Umtata on or about 25 June 1985;
