The Democratic Alliance (DA) received a letter from the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission (PSC), Professor Somadoda Fikeni, with advisory notes on the issue of ANC study groups meeting with government officials, following our official complaint to the PSC on the matter. In his letter, Prof Fikeni points out that “interactions between public servants and political parties came under the gaze of the Zone Commission and were found to weaken the ability of Parliament to scrutinise executive action and shield the executive from accountability”.

The SAPS has declined ActionSA’s PAIA application for access to crucial documentation pertaining to the prosecution of the suspects accused of robbing the Phala Phala farm. Included in this request is the President’s affidavit which was deposed as part of the investigation into the Phala Phala robbery which documented the amount of cash stolen from the President’s farm. The other documentation requested is the NPA’s cashflow analysis which has revealed R15 million in financial transactions which flowed through just one of the three accused following the robbery.

ActionSA Health and Wellness Spokesperson in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature Emma More, has officially responded to the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC), formally expressing strong disagreement with the Commission's recent explanations regarding non-national public healthcare utilisation. Following the SAHRC's Imbizo on 25 May 2026, where the Commission boldly claimed there is no evidence linking hospital overcrowding to foreign nationals, MPL More requested the empirical data supporting this stance. The SAHRC’s written response, dated 04 June 2026, contains glaring factual inaccuracies, mathematical impossibilities, and attempts to retroactively alter the narrative presented to the public.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) can reveal, through a Parliamentary Reply, that the South African Police Service (SAPS) has failed to provide any digital forensics training to detectives stationed at the country’s highest-crime police stations over the past year. This comes at a time when cybercrime, online scams, digital fraud and identity theft are growing rapidly across South Africa. The reply shows that between 1 April 2025 and 27 February 2026, not a single detective stationed at the Top 35 highest-crime police stations received digital forensics training.

The unnecessary delay by Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi’s government in implementing the Township Economic Development Act (TEDA), passed in 2022, is severely affecting job creation in our communities across the province. TEDA is meant to stimulate the local economy by cutting red tape and supporting township enterprises to grow and create sustainable employment opportunities. It assists township businesses in complying with regulations and participating in the formal economy. It mandates the Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) to prioritise doing business with township suppliers to grow the local economy and create jobs.
