Zuma is still our candidate for president despite the decision by the Supreme Court of Appeal to reinstate the charges against him, Gauteng premier Paul Mashatile said on Saturday.

Mashatile, also Gauteng ANC chairman said they will not be distracted by the SCA decision and will continue with their support for Zuma.

Mashatile was speaking at a voting party meeting held at the Braamfontein Recreation Centre in central Johannesburg.

He added that all the nominees chosen must serve the people and advance the objectives of the ANC without seeking material or personal gain.

"They need to place their energies and skills at the disposal of the ANC, carry out the tasks given to them with diligence and determination," he said.

ANC branches were expected to hand over their lists of nominees to be deployed to represent the party in government.

Mashatile applauded members for their disciplined conduct during a "lengthy process of internal democracy" within the party that led to Saturday's voting.

"It is important that we accept the outcomes of this democratic process. Our paramount task is the unity of our movement."

"This process must never divide us," Mashatile told delegates.

The Gauteng ANC would be launching its elections manifesto at Hunters Field Stadium in Ekurhuleni on Sunday.
