Depu ty President Jacob Zuma this morning, 15 January 2003, arrived in Bujumbura, Burundi, to discuss progress in the Burundi peace process with key role-players in the country.

Accompanied by the South African Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aziz Pahad, the Deputy President will meet, among others, the President of Burundi, Pierre Buyoya; 19 Transitional Government Parties; the President of the National Assembly, Dr Jean Minani, and the Vice-President of Burundi, Domitien Ndayizeye.

Deputy President Zuma is also to visit South African troops based in Burundi currently assisting in the peace process.

The Deputy President is scheduled to return to South Africa tomorrow, 16 January- The Presidency.
