Webber Wentzel has welcomed a new partner, Mmadika Moloi into its competition practice. A seasoned expert in competition law, Mmadika joined the firm on 5 September 2015, and is based in its Sandton office.

Mmadika is joining a practice area within Webber Wentzel that boasts the most number of ranked partners of any competition practice in South Africa, providing world-class legal services across the full spectrum of competition law, including merger notifications, cartel investigations, competition litigation, exemptions, compliance and regulatory advice.

She  brings a wealth of competition law experience to the table, spanning a decade. She joins Webber Wentzel from Tshisevhe Gwina Ratshimbilani Inc, where she was the Director and Head of the firm’s competition practice in addition to the experience that she garnered from Norton Rose Fulbright where she served as a senior associate.

She also has a wealth of experience in competition law in other African countries and has assisted clients in assessing the requirements of merger notifications as well as preparing merger notifications in these countries. On a regional level, she has prepared merger notifications for submission to the COMESA Competition Commission.

Christo Els, Senior Partner at Webber Wentzel, said: "We are thrilled to welcome Mmadika to the Webber Wentzel competition team, which has an enviable reputation as the leading authority on competition law in South Africa. We are confident that her experience, as well as her expertise in mergers and takeovers, her in-depth experience in dealing with competition authorities in addition to her exceptional client relationship management skills, will add great value for our clients."

With her vast experience in competition law locally and within the continent, Mmadika will no doubt add to the depth and range of our firm's well established and market-leading Competition Practice.

Her appointment, which follows the recent hires of two female partners in the Dispute Resolution and TMT practices, further reinforces the firm's commitment to gender diversity. This brings the number of female partners to 63.
