Notice is hereby given that the Transnet pensioners of the two pension funds that have taken Transnet and government to court in a class action to claim back funds lost due to maladministration, will be demonstrating and marching to the President’s office at the Union Buildings on 30 March 2015. The pensioners will meet at the Pretoria Art Museum, from where they will walk to the Office of the President, to hand over their petition.
The march is arranged by the black pensioners who comprise about 45% of the two pension funds. They have invited all pensioners afflicted by the dire state of their pension funds to join in a march of solidarity.
According to the petition document the pensioners will be claiming an immediate substantial injection into their pension funds to allow for an overall increase of all pensions, an annual inflation-linked increase, compulsory annual bonuses, and better corporate governance and democratic representation on the board of trustees of both funds.
Details of the march:
Date: Monday, 30 March 2015
Time: 09:00 for 10:00
