Sub-Clause 20.1 of the International Association of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) standard form contract for construction (“the Red Book) sets out the requirements a Contractor must follow to institute a claim against an Employer for additional time and/or money (“a Claim”). Compliance with Sub-Clause 20.1 is essential to the protection and crystallisation of any potential claim a Contractor may have against the Employer.
This short note explains what a Contractor needs to do in order to successfully submit a claim.
