South Sudan's oil production has been unaffected by fighting in the two-year-old nation although the conflict has moved beyond the capital, Information Minister Michael Makuei Leuth said on Thursday.

"There is no fighting in the oil fields. They are peaceful. The oil is flowing as usual," Leuth told Reuters by telephone.

Leuth said there was fighting overnight and on Thursday morning in Bor, a flashpoint town in Jonglei state, where government troops have been battling forces loyal to former Vice President Riek Machar. Rebels controlled most of Bor, he said.
