SOUTH AFRICAN AIR FORCE AIR CAPABILITY DEMONSTRATION

The SAAF Air Capability Demostration (ACD) will be held on Thursday, 1 June 2017 at the Roodewal Weapon Range in Makhado, Limpopo Province. The demonstration will commence from 15:30 ending at 20:00.

The purpose of the exercise is to invigorate the SAAF’s combat readiness and its role in peace support operations.  Employment of air power will be demonstrated by means of various academic profiles, collaborations from SA Army, SAHMS, DOD Joint Support and special Force Brigade.

During this event, the SAAF will showcase its air power capability through use of various assets on its inventory, including its most modern acquisitions such as the Gripen and Hawk aircraft, inclusive of its battlefield support helicopter, the Rooivalk and the Oryx for CASEVAC/ISTAR and trooping. This will include simulation of various scenarios using live ammunition as well as soldiers in combat sequence of different natures, the focus however being on the provision of air power.

The Chief of the Air Force (CAF), Lieutenant General Zimpande Msimang will deliver a key note address whilst accompanied by members of the SAAF Command Council and other invited guests.

You are cordially invited to send a journalist and a camera operator to cover the event. The SAAF will fly all invited guests and interested members of the media from Air Force Base Waterkloof (AFB WKLF) to the Limpopo Province. All RSVP`s will be handled on a first-response first-seat basis, due to the limited number of seats on the aircraft.

RSVP`s received after the available number of seats have been filled, will not be considered. However, a standby list will be created in case there is a cancellation from a confirmed RSVP.

Reporting time at AFB WKLF VIP Movements is 09:45 for 11:45 on Thursday, 1 June 2017 and members to bring with identification documents. Conversely, time is subject to change at a short notice due to various logistical factors and weather conditions. The aircraft will return to AFB WKLF in the evening of the same day (departure time from Limpopo will be communicated during the programme).
