The Durban High Court has on Friday, 20 May 2016 sentenced three men to life imprisonment for the murder of the former Abahlali Basemjondolo leader Thulisile Ndlovu who was shot and killed at Kwandengezi area near Durban on 29 September 2014.

Ndlovu was the whistle blower on corruption and protest marches against eThekwini Ward 12 councillors Mduduzi Ngcobo (52) and Velile Lutsheku (57) who were allocating RDP houses to people who did not reside in the area.

The two councillors retaliated by hiring a hitman Mlungisi Ndlovu (32) who fired the killer shot. On top of a life imprisonment Mlungisi was further sentenced to 12 years for attempted murder of another person who was injured during the shooting.

Meaning while, Mtubatuba High Court sentenced seven accused who were involved in a string of armed robberies in the area. Dickson Nene (44), Ntokozo Dube (32), Thuthukani Mnguni (25), Vusi Gina (31), Phumlani Mvelase (32), Siyabonga Ntuli (27) and Khulekani Mbatha (36) were convicted and sentenced to ten years imprisonment.   

The seven men terrorised the residents of Hlabisa, Mtubatuba, Hluhluwe and Empangeni between May and September 2013 and had targeted a certain security  company.
