The Prime Minister of Namibia Hage Geingob on Friday opened the two-day 38th SADC summit, which is being attended by 16 heads of state and government.
The summit is responsible for the overall policy direction and control of functions of the community, ultimately making it the policy-making institution of SADC.
It is made up of all SADC heads of states or government and is managed on a Troika system that comprises the current Chairperson, the incoming Chairperson and the immediate previous Chairperson.
South Africa, which is represented by President Cyril Ramaphosa, is handing over the chairmanship of SADC o Namibia
