Minister of Sport and Recreation, Fikile Mbabula congratulated Bafana Bafana on qualifying for the  quarter finals of the 29th Orange Africa Cup of Nations .

“Thank you South Africa for your unwavering support for the national team. We won the battle, now we must win the war. Bafana players are true soldiers indeed”, said Mbalula.

Mbalula who gave a War Cry statement during the week as he prepared the players for a Mabhida success, stated that the tournament has reached the cruising altitude with African drums and Vuvuzelas being heard world-wide showing the spirit of “The Beat at Africa’s Feet”.

South Africans are commended for backing Bafana Bafana and attending the tournament matches in all host cities. The jovial mood of the fans at Moses Mabhida stadium contributed to the team’s success on the battle ground. Moses Mabhida and the forebears descended down Egagasini and declared that Bafana Bafana will remain in the city for the quarterfinal feat.

AFCON VILLAGE at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newton, Johannesburg has become a hub for soccer loving Africans, where all nations participating in the tournament showcase the best traits of their culture.  The Village is also a meeting place for think tanks to debate on issues of social cohesion and peace. Members of the public are invited to the village to view games and experience the fanfare of the tournament.

"We encourage the nation especially those in the province of Gauteng to visit the village and experience the spirit of Africa!", said Mbalula.
