On 17 April 2014, the Institute for Security Studies (ISS) and the Global Center on Cooperative Security signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to continue their close and longstanding cooperative relationship, spanning the last eight years.
The MoU, signed by the Managing Director of the ISS, Anton du Plessis and the Global Center's Executive Director, Alistair Millar, articulates a series of principles to help guide and further deepen that relationship.In particular, the MoU is intended to facilitate coordination and cooperation on joint projects, as well as the pooling of relevant staff expertise and other resources.
The agreement is based on mutual respect and understanding of the individual strengths, mandates and institutional capacities of the Global Center and the ISS.Both the ISS and the Global Center are committed to the promotion of international security and have therefore resolved to strengthen their ties to further this primary goal.Both the ISS and the Global Center are committed to the promotion of human security and international cooperation. The two organisations believe that this agreement will strengthen their collaboration and enhance their abilities to achieve their respective missions and visions.The MoU was signed at the Global Center's offices in Washington DC, USA.
