South African Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa arrived, Thursday 30 October 2014, in Entebbe ahead of consultations on the South Sudanese peace process with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni scheduled for tomorrow, Friday 31 October 2014.

Pursuant to the objective of bringing about peace and stability in South Sudan, Deputy President Ramaphosa visited Addis Ababa on Wednesday and Thursday 29-30 October where he held talks with major stakeholders to the peace process including the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and South Sudanese Vice President Riek Machar.

The visit to Addis Ababa was preceded by another to South Sudan on Wednesday 29 October, which saw Deputy President Ramaphosa meeting with South Sudanese President Salva Kirr in the capital city, Juba

Following his visit to Uganda, Deputy President Ramaphosa is expected, on Friday 31 October, to proceed to Dar es Salaam for a further consultation with Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete before returning to South Africa.

Deputy President Ramaphosa has been consulting with respective leaders in the various countries in the region in his capacity as Special Envoy to South Sudan. In this regard, South Africa has committed itself to working with all stakeholders in the region including the African Union, IGAD, as well as all political roleplayers to help find a lasting political solution to current challenges facing South Sudan.
