The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Tourism welcomes the action by the Minister of Tourism, Mr Derek Hanekom, to refer the owner of Sodwana Bay Guest House in KwaZulu-Natal to the Human Rights Commission. The actions of the owner, Andre Slate, who refused to allow blacks and government workers at his establishment as seen on social media this week, cannot be allowed to continue in a democratic South Africa.
All forms of racism and any deliberate actions to perpetuate this heinous behaviour is abhorred and should not be tolerated, said Chairperson Beatrice Ngcobo.
Issued by Parliamentary Communication Services on behalf of the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Tourism, Ms B Ngcobo
