The Summit, to be held on 17 and 18 June, is organised by Topco Media and is fully endorsed by the Secretariat of the National Planning Commission.

This Summit aims to examine, outline and unpack the National Development Plan (NDP) from the perspective of both the private and public sector. The National Development Plan (NDP) is a long term vision and strategic plan for South Africa.

The Summit will be followed two months later by a publication which focuses on what government, business and civil society are doing to make the NDP a reality.

“We are committed as a government to implementing the NDP and each and every one of us must live up to the commitment that we made to the people of South Africa which is contained in the ruling party’s manifesto of 2014,” Radebe said in an interview for the publication on the NDP.

Ryland Fisher, associate publisher of Topco Media, said the fact that the Minister has agreed to open the Summit and to be interviewed in the publication indicates the importance that government attaches to both.

“The Summit and publication are a small way in which Topco Media is contributing to making sure that the NDP, which is universally accepted as a blueprint for a better South Africa, becomes a reality.”

The NDP was developed by 25 part-time Commissioners, under the leadership of former Minister in the Presidency Trevor Manuel, who is also interviewed in the publication. The plan is supported by most major political parties and endorsed by Cabinet. The practical implementation of this plan shall be unpacked at the Vision 2030 Summit, which is an opportunity for both private and public sector to understand how this plan was formulated and how it will impact on the lives of all South Africans.

Ministers who are speaking at the Summit include:

  • Nkosinathi Nhleko, Minister of Police
  • Edna Molewa, Minister of Environmental Affairs
  • Faith Muthambi, Minister of Communications

More ministers are expected to confirm their availability in the next few days. Other speakers will include senior representatives of the business community, NGOs and several of the original commissioners, who will share their insights into the workings of the NDP.

Among the key topics to be discussed are:

  • Is Vision 2030 realistic?
  • The impact of the NDP on South African society
  • Overview of 600 infrastructure projects currently underway
  • The role education plays in securing success of NDP

“These issues and many others will be unpacked at the Summit and are examined in the publication which features interviews with several ministers and captains of industry,” said Topco’s Fisher.

In the interview for our publication on the NDP, Minister Radebe shared his vision of South Africa in 2030: “I would like to see a South Africa where our young people feel very positive about the future of our country, where the economy is vibrant, where there are many choices and opportunities for our people academically speaking, as well as in the sporting area, and in the economy. “

The Vision 2030 Summit will look at how all of us can play a role in making this a reality.

Booking is now open for the Summit and for advertising in the publication.
