President Jacob Zuma will on Tuesday, 3 March 2015 convene the inaugural meeting of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council.

President Zuma appointed new members of the Council in November last year, having bid farewell to members who had driven the work of the Council successful since 2009.

The BEE Advisory Council takes forward government's economic transformation agenda and the National Development Plan 2030 vision.

The new Council members will advise government in the implementation of the amended Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Act which was signed into law by the President in October 2014. Regulations to give effect to the Act are being finalised which will go a long way to ensure that tangible transformation is achieved. Another key transformation project being run by the dti and on the programme of the BEE Council as well is the creation of opportunities to develop one hundred black industrialists over three years.

The members of the BEE Advisory Council are the following:

1.     Dr Rob Davies, the Minister of Trade and Industry.
2.     Ms Susan Shabangu, the Minister in the Presidency responsible for the Women portfolio.
3.     Ms Mildred Oliphant, the Minister of Labour.
4.     Mr Thembelani "Thulas” Nxesi, the Minister of Public Works.
5.     Ms Zingiswa Losi, the Second Deputy President of the Congress of South African Trade Unions.
6.     Ms Tantaswa Fubu, the President of the Association for the Advancement of Black Accountants of South Africa.
7.     Mr Puleng Tsebe, the Deputy Chairperson of Disabled People South Africa.
8.     Mr Sandile Zungu, the Vice-President of the Black Business Council.
9.     Mr Clive Manci, member of the Board of Business Unity South Africa.
10.     Professor Eltie Links, the Chair of Doing Business in Africa at the Stellenbosch Graduate School of Business, University of Stellenbosch.
11.     Ms Chantyl Mulder, the Senior Executive for Professional Development and Transformation at the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
12.     Mr Lefadi Makibinyane, the Chief Executive Officer of Amatola Water in East London
13.     Dr Thami Mazwai, Executive Chairman of Mtiya Dynamics, an enterprise development advisory company, and former Head of the University of Johannesburg's Small Business Development Centre
14.     Mr Yershen Pillay, Chairperson of the National Youth Development Agency.
15.     Ms Sankie Mthembi-Mahanyele, former Minister of Housing and Chairperson of the Central Energy Fund.
16.     Mr Mike Mlengana, the President of the African Farmers Association of South Africa.
17.     Ms Zinhle Cele, the Deputy Secretary General of the Progressive Professionals Forum.
18.     Ms Koko Khumalo, the Deputy President of the Black Management Forum.
19.     Ms Caroline Magadla, the Treasurer General of the South African National Apex Cooperative (SANACO).
