The decision to sign the declaration was made during a one day visit by South African Transport Minister Jeff Radebe to Lesotho earlier this week, a Sapa correspondent reported yesterday.
Radebe visited Lesotho under the umbrella of the Joint Bilateral Commission of Cooperation (JBCC) signed between the two countries in 2001.
Lesotho's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohlabi Tsekoa, who met Radebe, underlined the importance of the two agreements.
"The search and rescue agreement will be specially crucial in winter as our people living in the mountains usually get trapped after heavy snowfalls.
"(The agreement) involving the upgrading of the Underberg-Mokhotlong-Sani Pass roads will equally benefit both countries in the promotion of tourism," said Tsekoa.
Radebe told local reporters the existing cordial relations between Lesotho and South Africa were on track and would be intensified in the future.
The signings are expected to take place on June 24. - Sapa
