The Ad Hoc Committee on the Funding of Political Parties was briefed by the Parliamentary Legal Services Unit on the impact on its work of the My Vote Counts court judgement, and accordingly agreed that the judgement did not affect the work of the Committee.
“We shall carry on with our mandate as per the terms of reference of the resolution of the National Assembly,” said Mr Vincent Smith, the Chairperson of the Committee.
Therefore, the Committee has resolved to hold two-day public hearings on the Draft Political Party Funding Bill on 7-8 November 2017, in which 21 organisations and individuals from different sectors will make oral presentations.
Issued by Parliamentary Communication Services on behalf of the Chairperson of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Funding of Political Parties, Vincent Smith
