Yes, PAC agrees that the time has arrived for President Mugabe to OPT-OUT in an esteemed exit.

We are historical & territorial friends of Zimbabwe.

Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) is a historical and ideological ally of the ZANU – PF. We have shared time and other resources in the trenches. PAC founding President Robert Sobukwe led Robert Mugabe as SRC President in 1949 in the historical Fort Hare University. Emmerson Mnangwaga trained and guided many APLA cadres in Harare. Zimbabwean government granted PAC external chairman Cde John Nyathi Pokela a state funeral where he was laid in the Heroes Arch. Our ties with Zimbabwe as well as ZANU – PF are unbreakable.

Thanks to the Zim Army

We are applauding the Zimbabwean Defence Force (ZDF) for first prioritising its citizens and ensuring that liuves of Zimbabweans are looked after. We view the current situation in Zimbabwe as an internal matter for both the ZANU – PF and the entire beautiful country of Zimbabwe. We have full confidence that the people of Zimbabwe, ZANU-PF and army will find an amicable solution, Zimbabwe has lot of experience for conflict-resolution as well as capacity for that.

We appreciate the professional manner in which the ZDF has been handling the situation since it erupted to avoid unnecessary and careless bloodshed. We are happy to see a “happy” mood in Harare. We appreciate the fact that the ZDF still respect President Mugabe and treat him in a high esteem.

We fully understand the circumstances under which the ZDF intervened with a sole intention of stabilizing the situation which in their view threatens the national security of the Republic of Zimbabwe.

Yes, Mugabe must OPT-OUT.

Under the circumstances the PAC acknowledges that Robert Mugabe has made his immense contribution during the liberation movement as well as building a better Zimbabwe under his three successful decades, we believe that he should listen to his people and OPT-OUT under a package deal mapped out by both his party and the army.

The PAC still esteem Mugabe as a liberation icon who has played his role and can stand alone in principle, we believe that no one will ever steal that from him. We do not want to see what happened to Colonel Muammar Gaddafi happening to our “last Pan Africanist”.

Our fear is that if President Robert Mugabe remains in power, he may do away with the massive gains of liberties he helped fought for, above all he may diminish his own self-defined role in the African struggle. President Mugabe can be bestowed a title of Honorary President of Zimbabwe who will stay home and enjoy his last years under full care of the state.

Zimbabwe should bar possible external intervention.

With regard to possible external interventions, the PAC is fully opposed to that as the current atmosphere in Harare does not constitute any excuse to undergo what happened in Libya under a democratic regime of Gadhafi. The situation is peaceful and orderly, any form of intervention will lead to chaotic and costly situation which will lead to avoidable bloodshed.

PAC call upon parties involved to do that as soon as possible in order to give Zimbabwean people a clarity and that normality be restored. Republic of Zimbabwe is not in crises but a transition which was in any way going to take shape. Zimbabwe has been under democracy from early 1980, the current wave is what any democracy undergoes when that need arises. It would not be true to label Mugabe and his regime as “undemocratic” nevertheless Zimbabweans think differently now and we should honour that.
