The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has always been saying Monde Bala and Charles Ndhlovu are the worst managers at Eskom in KwaZulu-Natal.

Since the arrival of Mr. Monde Bala as the General Manager (GM), KwaZulu-Natal has been declining on the key aspect of the business. The province is failing to collect revenue ever since his arrival, matters of consultations with trade unions are unilaterally implemented without any consultations The man has no passion to see the province progress. He is always in Johannesburg where he resides and his subordinates are running the show

The NUM is shocked that all technical sites will have no securities during the day despite numerous times we tried to warn Mr. Bala that this may jeopardize the safety of employees.  He continues to remove security guards because of Eskom's wasteful expenditure during and after strike action where they hired expensive security guards with huge guns when it was not necessary.

We have now be informed that Mr. Bala and Mr.Ndhlovu  have made deductions to employees before they subject them to any disciplinary hearings and this is an indication that they want to show that they are kingpins and no one can challenge them This has a negative impact on a lot of leaners who during the strike were not part but were in workplace waiting for their supervisor to instruct them what to do

Mr.Ndhlovu as the HR Manager has no love for training and development this we experienced when he filled the position of talent and skills with someone with no experience in the department now leaners are suffering some don’t have their certificate of trade test to date. When we engaged him he promised to take the box of all their study evidence to Johannesburg which he never returned with it.

The two gentlemen are running a farm, not a corporate company.Their failure to share the province financial budget and expenditure is a clear indication that they are behind the dirty that sinks this province. We, therefore, call for them to step aside and give others who have a great ambition of improving the province to lead. It can’t be correct that under their watch people suffer and the entire province is behind with electrification.

The NUM will meet on 3 November to decide on a program of action against the two managers who are failing Kwazulu-Natal province.
