Hannes Marais, associate in the Johannesburg office’s construction team, rounds up the new hires for the disputes practice in South Africa, adding significant strength to the firm’s existing capability.

Banking

The banking and finance team has been boosted by the appointment of a new associate, Daniel Leslie and two legal interns, Khaya Gcabashe and Apelele Pindani, who are all in the Johannesburg office.

Edward Kateka joined as an associate in our Dar es Salaam office in Tanzania and is working closely with directors Adam Lovett and Angela Mndolwa to grow the banking practice in East Africa.

Corporate

Mergers and acquisitions director Siviwe Anthony has re-joined the South African corporate team.  She started her legal career as a candidate attorney in Norton Rose Fulbright just over ten years ago and has, in the interim, run her own successful practice and was previously a director at Edward Nathan Sonnenbergs.

Johannesburg-based associates Alexandra Fitzgerald (mergers and acquisitions), Lebo Moleko (competition) and Marcelle Kingsley (real estate) have bolstered the legal practice’s corporate law service.

IT services

Another key appointment is Gerhard Botha, the new head of technology for the South African practice.  The role of technology in the business of law is all important and Gerhard’s mandate is to drive efficiency using the latest information management systems.
