Ther e has been no discussions about appointing two additional deputy presidents after the April 14 elections, the African National Congress said yesterday.

Reacting to a Business Day newspaper article speculating that President Thabo Mbeki would be supported by three deputies, ANC spokesperson Smuts Ngonyama said the issue was never discussed within the party structures.

"I know nothing about it. There is nothing like it. What are these sources (the Business Day quoted) really," he said.

The article said speculation in diplomatic, academic and business circles was that Foreign Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Defence Minister Mosiuoa Lekota would be the two additional deputies. – Sapa.
