COSATU will be hosting an educative event on the National Minimum Wage on Monday 30th November at 4pm. The event is aimed at trade union and community leaders but other members of the public with an interest are welcome to attend. In particular union shop stewards and officials across the three Federations who are involved in mandating and mobilising processes towards a National Minimum Wage are encouraged to attend.
It is critical that labour and community build power and knowledge in support of the National Minimum Wage negotiations with government and business which are taking place under Nedlac.
Please pass on this notice, and encourage comrades to put aside two hours on the afternoon of Monday 30th November.

The big question: What would the impact of a national minimum wage be?
Will a National Minimum Wage set at a decent level negatively affect jobs? How will it change economic output, investment and growth? Will it reduce poverty and inequality?
The National Minimum Wage Research Initiative (an independent research unit based at Wits University) will present the results of macro and microeconomic modelling showing the potential impact of a national minimum wage on all of these indicators and more.
Date: Monday 30th November 2015
Venue: Dora Tamana meeting room, 2nd Floor, COSATU House, 110 Jorissen St
Time: 15.30 for 16.00 – 17.30. Light refreshments will be served from 15.30 to 16.00. The presentation will begin at 16.00 sharp.
