Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi is expected to hold a meeting on Thursday with the STOP TB Partnership in Washington as part of strengthening South Africa’s response to TB.

Motsoaledi, who left the country on Sunday, is currently in the US, where he is attending a series of meetings geared at forging partnerships with several American agencies and bodies, and to mobilise support.

The minister met with representatives of the Kaiser Family Foundation on Tuesday, where the parties shared ideas on transforming South Africa's health system.

Today, he is expected to address students and academics of Harvard School of Public Health in Boston on South Africa's current health challenges.

During the meeting in Washington, the minister, who will be joined by America's Ambassador to South Africa Eric Goosby, will give a presentation to Congress on the US President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

PEPFAR is one of the US agencies that provides substantial financial support to South Africa's fight against HIV/Aids and TB.

Motsoaledi is expected to return to South Africa on Saturday.
