Members of the media are invited to several events taking place during the 13th annual #IsraeliApartheidWeek campaign (March 5-12).
1. Reflections on Palestine with former President Kgalema Motlanthe
On Sunday, former President of South Africa Kgalema Motlanthe, will kick off this year's #IsraeliApartheidWeek activities, participating in a panel discussion titled “Reflections on Palestine”.
Motlanthe, a Board member of the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation, will speak at a public event on 5 March at 10h30. The event is in Johannesburg at Constitution Hill - the location of South Africa’s highest court, the Constitutional Court.
Other speakers at the event will include Reverend Edwin Arrison (Chairperson of South Africa’s National Coalition 4 Palestine) and Professor Farid Esack (BDS South Africa).

2. Global premiere of documentary on the life of Marwan Barghouthi
The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation and Institute of Palestine and South Africa invites members of the media to attend the following screenings of the movie Marwan, produced by Maan TV. The screenings are supported by the Embassy of the State of Palestine.
Fadwa Barghouthi, Marwan's wife, is expected to attend the Cape Town and Johannesburg launches.
Marwan Barghouthi was the first Palestinian Member of Parliament to be arrested by Israel on April 15, 2002. He has spent over two decades of his life in Israeli jails including the last 14 years consecutively. Marwan is known as the 'Palestinian Mandela'. In 2013, struggle veteran Ahmed Kathrada and Fadwa Barghouthi launched the international campaign for the Freedom of Marwan Barghouthi and All Palestinian Political Prisoners on Robben Island.
