Hundreds of Domestic Workers in Limpopo are set to benefit immensely, as the Minister of Labour, Mildred Oliphant will have a dialogue with them, during an Imbizo to be held in Polokwane later this month.

Amongst the issues to be discussed by the Minister at the Imbizo are: conditions of employment, minimum wages, hours of work, leave days and termination of employment.

The Minister will also use the opportunity to make a plea to the employers to register their employees on Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF).

According to the recent figures, there are some 652 676 domestic workers currently registered for UIF and the number is thought to be higher than it is.

The domestic workers will also be afforded an opportunity to share all their challenges and suggestions with the Minister. Their inputs will be helpful later during the review of the Sectoral Determination where the current minimum wages as well as other conditions of employment within the sector will be put under the spotlight.
