Public Works Minister Thulas Nxesi in partnership with CIDB cordially invites you to a stakeholders meeting in the Construction Industry to discuss improving the criteria for grading contractors on the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) register of contractors. Other issues that will be discussed are delayed payments by clients.

The Register of contractors is established to manage risk on behalf of public sector clients when procuring services from contractors, by categorising and grading contractors according to their capability to carry out construction projects.

The National Stakeholder Forum, will focus on the register’s grading review during the two year period of its tenure until August 2020. It will advise the Minister and the CIDB Board on measures necessary to improve the Register’s effectiveness. Particularly the grading criteria to provide clients greater assurance that the more than 100 000 contractors on the CIDB register can deliver to expected levels of quality and standard at their different grading levels.
