Pres ident Thabo Mbeki will head to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, today for the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government Summit which runs from tomorrow to Thursday, a foreign affairs spokesman said.

Ronnie Mamoepa said in a statement yesterday Mbeki would lead the South African delegation which would include the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma.

The Peace and Security Council, chaired by Dlamini Zuma, would make recommendations to the summit.

These recommendations, which will be tabled by Mbeki will cover developments in Darfur, Sudan, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Ivory Coast. – Sapa.
