The 5th edition of the Mauritius Business Law Review (MBLR Vol.5) is now available online at www.mblr.mu.

This edition is entirely devoted to international arbitration and Mauritius as a reference jurisdiction for international arbitration and in particular for the African region. This publication is of relevance to companies in South Africa that do business with Mauritius and need to be kept informed about  Mauritian legal processes.

International arbitration is featured in this edition in conjunction with the World Congress of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration which will be held in Mauritius in 2016. Various lawyers, both Mauritian and foreign have contributed to this edition as well as a presentation article by the Honourable Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam.

Anne-Sophie Jullienne writes on ‘Disconnecting International Arbitration from Domestic Arbitration: The Costs Recovery Example’. Salim Moollan then elaborates on the International Arbitration Act 2008, its amendments and Supreme Court Rules for International Arbitration. Examples of other articles include ‘Global Business and International Arbitration’ by Antish Raj Bundhoo, ‘Confidentiality for International Arbitration Claims’ by Jamsheed Peeroo and articles by Raphael Jakoba and Divino Sabino about arbitration in Madagascar and in Seychelles respectively.

We also have articles by the representatives of arbitral institutions in Mauritius, namely Fedelma Smith of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, Duncan Bagshaw of the Mauritius International Arbitration Centre and Barlen Pillay of the Permanent Court of Arbitration of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
