The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal said on Wednesday it plans to win all wards and municipalities in the province in the upcoming local government elections.

Speaking to media on Wednesday, following a provincial executive meeting at the weekend, ANC provincial secretary Super Zuma said the party would also welcome input from communities.

"We welcome the views and guidance of our people on who can best represent their interests as ward councillors. As the movement of the people, we are committed to ensuring that the final list of our candidates will reflect the democratic will of the people."

Zuma said the party would be focusing on the provincial manifesto which is a prelude to President Jacob Zuma announcing the national manifesto within weeks.

Asked about some of the challenges the ANC had faced with protesting members during ward councillor nominations, Zuma said most disciplinary processes had been completed with a few still outstanding.

"What we can say is that, yes, a number of our members have gone through the disciplinary processes and come out better."

According to Zuma, disciplinary processes in the ANC meant members would "learn".

"We have even received letters of apology from some of our members after they marched to our offices recently. Our processes are there to educate our people and reform them. They have been positive and are very co-operative and understanding now."

Asked about the party's strategy for the upcoming elections, Zuma said: "We plan to win all wards and all municipalities".
