IFP eThekwini member of the Executive of the eThekwini Municipality, Cllr Mdu
Nkosi, today calls on the eThekwini Municipality to urgent send the Waterkan
truck so people can be able to have water access today, after hearing that
yesterday water of the residents in Waterloo was cut off without notice.
"We as the IFP feel that these people were betrayed and failed by their own ANC
councillor who was not aware of the matter in his ward and sounded as though he
did not even care when the residents reported the water cut off to him," said
Cllr Nkosi.
"How can a ward Cllr not know about the issues that are affecting his community?
But all of this does not amaze us because the ANC in eThekwini have failed its
people. It's also disgusting that community members reported that when members
of community contact him he just says I'm away, I can't do anything about it,
and refer them to His Office phone which is not being answered," continued Cllr
Nkosi.
In conclusion, the IFP demands the eThekwini Municipality to urgent send the
Waterkan truck so people can be able to have water access today while the issue
is being investigated because the Municipality cannot just cut off the service
without following due process. Residents must first be informed in writing about
the intention to disconnect the services due. What happened in Waterloo
yesterday, is not acceptable. How will the people function on a daily basis
without water? Continued Cllr Nkosi.
